10.00 Drive to Eauze, a gentle and pleasant Gascogny town, much appreciated by visitors to this part of SW France and the centre of the Armagnac region.
About 90 minutes driving through the wonderful country side of the Gers region, we will stop for 45mins on the outskirts of Eauze for a visit to an Organic cheese farm.
A small private producer, will offer you a samples of their finest products made for local consumption and not available elsewhere.
A short drive away to lunch at a Ferme Auberge, set amongst the rolling vineyards of Armangnac production. A delightful restaurant serving local specialities of country food and wine.
14.00 Visit to a Foie Gras producer situated almost opposite the restaurant.
Monsieur Mounet is a wonderful character, his property exemplary and a pride of heritage so very rare these days.
He will invite you to take a short guided trail ‘Le jeu de l’Oie de Mounet’ around his wooded grounds - describing Foie Gras production with a ‘gourmet’ prize for the winner.
Step inside his Château to watch a short video presentation on the history of Foie Gras and taste some of his wonderful products - purchase if require.
To complete the day, we will take a short drive to the possibly the finest Armagnac producer in Eauze, with family history going back many centuries.
A remarkable place until one generation ago made barrels from oak trees, grown on their property and to this day use a wood fired distillation process.
Be prepared to be taken back in time as Monsieur Georga Caracos shows you his unique museum with equipment from the previous three centuries.
Best of all, be prepared to be enlightened with a selection of Armagnacs in front of the old forge and a wood burning stove. An experience not to be missed!
